With over 300,000 visitors a year, the Filmnächte Festival offers the largest national open-air stage for cinema, concerts and cultural events.

Since the early 1990s, the Filmnächte have put together a program of current films, film classics and concerts at the venues night after night. The impressive backdrops are the setting for performances by well-known artists from all over the world as well as for film previews, premieres and visits by the film protagonists.

Whether for industry professionals, creative talents, start-ups or experts from marketing and branding - Filmnächte address the communication needs of people from the region as well as companies and institutions with a great deal of cinematic flair and connect them with each other.

A unique cultural platform is created across venues, combining art, community and diversity. The carefully curated content brings people from all backgrounds together and promotes democratic participation. Our screens are more than just a place for cinema - they offer space for exchange, discussions and exciting cultural formats - for every target group.

Stage for international stars:
UB40, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Herbert Grönemeyer, Nelly Furtado, Snoop Dogg, Rammstein, Lou Reed, Queens of the Stone Age, Seeed or the famous Kaisermania by Roland Kaiser have already been guests at the Filmnächte.

Filmnächte have repeatedly been recognized by the FFA as a branch tiger and thus as the most successful open-air cinema in Germany. Winning the LEA - Live Entertainment Award - in 2010 is another highlight in the Filmnächte's history.

Filmnächte stand for unique summer experiences and are pioneers in open-air event culture

With up to 70 event days per location, we offer a varied program every day for weeks on end that appeals to a wide variety of target groups. From concerts and open-air cinema to comedy and family events - our cultural offering is as diverse as the visitors we inspire. Exclusive cinema premieres and special formats are a particular highlight that make our program unique. At the same time, we attach great importance to integrating local events and partners in order to promote regional culture and community. Our sophisticated catering and hospitality concepts, which provide culinary delights and first-class hospitality, are also part of the Filmnächte experience.

By 2030, we want to bring the Filmnächte to new locations in Germany's largest cities and build the largest cinema and concert platform with national, year-round communication. With over 20 locations and a cinema tour, the Filmnächte experience will be made accessible throughout Germany and enable the broad promotion of local cinema and concert cultures. The Filmnächte are always dedicated to innovation within the national cinema industry. We want to attract talent and thus shape the open-air cinema culture of the future. Our code of conduct with its own sustainability concepts makes the festival an authentic, safe and future-oriented event format with transparent structures.

Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) in Big eyes (2014)

"Who decides what art is? Art is a matter of feeling."

Cinema as the "sum of all arts" offers connections and inspiration for all disciplines and creates a platform that allows cultural diversity to be experienced.
